Chicago, IL – July 29, 2014 – StratusVue today announced that PlansandSpecs, their collaborative project and document management solution for construction, is now integrated with Citrix ShareFile®, a secure file sync and sharing solution, to provide a comprehensive toolset for managing files and workflows on construction projects. The new integration streamlines the process of sharing, routing, and approving project documents with construction teams. It also eliminates the information fragmentation that occurs when files are spread across multiple applications, saving time and frustration for users.
“In today’s fast-paced construction environment project teams need easy ways to share information, but they also need tools that allow them to take action and collaborate,” said John Goecke, President and COO of StratusVue. “By combining the simplicity and security of ShareFile with the functionality of the StratusVue System, we’re finally giving construction users the best of both worlds: file sharing and true document management.”
ShareFile is a secure, cloud-based file sync and sharing solution specifically built for businesses. ShareFile allows businesses to send, receive, sync, and store files with anyone, anywhere. The StratusVue System is a cloud-based project and document management platform for the commercial construction environment. The system is comprised of three modules that streamline the collection, organization, distribution, approval routing, and reporting of contract documents throughout the duration of a project.
“Today, the speed with which a project team can manage and share design drawings, proposals or contracts can be a competitive advantage,” said Cat Allday, Sr. Director of Product Management at Citrix. “With StratusVue and ShareFile, it’s now even easier for project teams to get work done – from the bidding phase to project turnover.”
Communication in the construction industry has traditionally been based on the distribution of paper documents such as blueprints, specifications, contracts and submittals. With recent advances in technology, more information now remains in digital form and can be exchanged more efficiently, but in many cases the tools and methods being used to share and route documents are uncoordinated. As a result, information is scattered across disparate locations – making it more likely that project delays and jobsite mistakes will occur because the team isn’t working from the same information at the same time.
StratusVue’s goal is to eliminate these issues by providing users with a toolset that is the single “source of truth” for the latest project information. The integration with ShareFile helps further this aim by providing more convenient ways for users to securely store and exchange project files with team members. With ShareFile, users can use a mobile app to capture jobsite photos, sync design files to multiple devices, send large drawings by email, or transfer contract documents securely. Linking this flexibility with the workflow capabilities in PlansandSpecs allows users to quickly make those files part of official contract documents such as RFIs, submittals, punch lists, and change orders, and route them for review and approval. Now project teams can find their shared files and take actions with them in the same integrated solution, saving time and reducing confusion for all involved.
“We wanted to add the flexibility and simplicity of file sharing to the StratusVue toolset, but we also wanted to ensure it could be done in a secure way that was designed for corporate use,” said Goecke. “After reviewing our options, ShareFile was the clear choice. We are excited to introduce this integration and demonstrate the value it will bring our customers.”
